Our Ideal Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

A highly skilled and experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who will be responsible for administering anesthesia, monitoring patients during procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of care in a fast-paced outpatient environment. The role involves handling 6-15 sedation cases per day across various offices, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

  • Pre-Anesthesia Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments, including reviewing patient history, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating the appropriate anesthesia plan.
    • Collaborate with the dental and surgical team to develop and modify anesthesia care plans based on patient-specific needs.
  • Anesthesia Administration:
    • Administer IV anesthesia (deep sedation) for dental and surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
    • Utilize various sedation techniques (e.g., intravenous sedation, conscious sedation) tailored to the needs of the dental procedure and patient.
  • Intraoperative Management:
    • Monitor patients continuously during sedation to ensure hemodynamic stability, oxygenation, ventilation, and patient safety.
    • Adjust anesthesia levels as necessary based on patient response and procedural requirements.
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of anesthesia care provided during procedures.
  • Post-Anesthesia Care:
    • Oversee the safe recovery of patients from anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, managing post-operative pain, and addressing any complications or adverse reactions.
    • Provide post-anesthesia instructions to patients and their caregivers, including pain management, medication usage, and signs of potential complications.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with dentists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of care.
    • Participate in case reviews and quality improvement initiatives to continually enhance anesthesia practices.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional guidelines and standards of practice.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in anesthesia and sedation for dental procedures.
    • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in the field.
  • Patient Education and Advocacy:
    • Educate patients and their families about anesthesia procedures, potential risks, and post-operative care.
    • Advocate for patient safety and well-being throughout the perioperative process.

Requirements

  • Must hold current certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from an accredited program.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • Current, unrestricted CRNA license in the states of practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and physiology relevant to outpatient dental procedures.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple patients and cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
